Wedding 2011 and Shi-Óri weddingdress

Been some time since I updated the blog and that's 'cuz I spent a couple of months making my own weddingdress for my wedding in July. The wedding was amazing and from now on I've started to make new Shi-Óri creations to make yet another photoshoot.

This handbag was vintage and I remade it with the lace and ribbon and put on the chain. In the bakground is the corset that I made for my gown.

You gotta check out Life In Color that makes enviromentally friendly nail polish! They are a couple of young girls that came up with this idea and have so far done very good in such an early stage. They where involved in the Creative Collective runway show during Sthlm Fashion Week and had an exhibition at UF mässan recently. Check out their blog!

Exhibition @ Modecenter

Stockholm Fashion Week starts February 15 and from 17-20 February I will have an exhibition at Sickla Modecenter that's for free so just come over and say hi and take a look at the Shi-óri collection! I'll be there from 9-18 o'clock each day, except for Wednesday when I'll have to leave for Creative Collective runway show at 15 o'clock.
There will also be buses for free that will take you from T-Centralen through Slussen to Sickla, their bus schedule is every half an hour from 8.30 in the morning!

*Today I got the good news that I'm having my first and own Shi-Óri exhibition during Sthlm Fashion Week 2010 at Modecenter! Feels really really exciting and fun!

*Tomorrow my photographer Alan, my camera man Alex and I are starting a 3 day long photoshoot for a PR campaign for me with a great idea I got a couple of weeks ago. We'll be shooting some of Stockholms most interesting and coolest people. Looking forward to see the result! I wanna thank everybody that's involved in this project! :)

The article translated in English:

"Design and fashion started as a hobby for Carolina. In February this 27 year old will have the chance to show her clothes in Sweden's biggest fashion event: Stockholm Fashion Week.
Everywhere in Carolina's apartment there are stuff that witness about a designer living there. In one corner of her kitchen there is a sewing machine. At one of the walls there is an amount of colorful clothes hanging. On the table in front of us there's diferent fabrics and measurement tape. When I ask Carolina about how she makes a garment she takes a big piece of fabric and puts it around her body.
-When I see any kind of fabric at once I get a picture in my head that shows me exactly what that piece will look like. I'm not schooled in this, I learn this myself and dont make any pattern.
She tells me that the piece of fabric in her hands is going to be a dress.
The interest of sewing have always been there. Carolina's mom was a seamstress that used to make clothes for Carolina and her sister when they were little girls. Carolina herself started as a child little by little by making quilts for her dolls. It wasn't until she became a teenager that she made a garment and yet just as a hobby.
-This was never something I thought I could put my heart and soul in, the fashion business is very hard. It's lately that I have realised that if you got, you just got it.
Two years ago she started to make more clothes during her spare time. She's made around 130 garments and has sold half of them. When we meet she is in the middle of making garments for Stockholm Fashion Week in February. She calls this "a dream come true".
Carolina named her brand Shi-Óri, an Asian name that means woven poem. Among things that inspire her she mentions Japan and the fashion over there. Her personal inspiration are Robyn, Lykke Li and Musse Hasselvall.
-At the same time as their style isn't like everybody else thay fit well everywhere, Carolina says and describes her way of styling quite the same.
-It's extreme but yet wearable.
Carolina shows me some of her favorite garments that she has made and shows me what they have in common; clothes with lots of volume and open backs. The garments are colorful and with patterns and there's only one of each and every one.
-I think it's fun that there's only one of each, it becomes more exclusive. I dont like to follow trends and I dont believe in the fact that everybody has to look the same like copies of eachother. 'Til this day my plan is that the first that buys' it gets it and I'll continue with that as long as I can, she says.
For the first time ever she doesn't see her future in the fashion business as an impossible thing. The biggest dream of them all is to show at New York Fashion Week one day.
-I'll not give up easily, right now I feel like everything is possible!"

*I had my first interview today as a designer! It was made by a student at Journalisthögskolan and actually it was fun! I was happy that she wanted to talk to me. And yet again, I have to thank my partner in crime Carlos Rojas for setting us up!
I'll public the inteview here when it's done (probably next week).

*On Monday & Tuesday some of my clothes will be up on display at Modecenter in Stockholm. I'll not personally be there but my agent will take care of the whole thing and all of her clients are coming to see what's up. I'm excited yet a little bit nervous to hear all the feedback they have to say.

Shi-Óri is now proud partner in crime with my dear old friend Carlos Rojas! He's a Swedish/Spanish man that has a finger in most of things happening here. Very creative and forward career guy! We have a very nice project coming up and I'll let you know more about it in 2 or 3 weeks! Veeeery exciting!

8 of his 10 win he's won by KO or TKO!

He's my favorite Spanish fighter since I saw him in the Swedish competition Superior Challenge 2 in October 2008. I'm honored to know that my brand will be on his clothes since I'm a big MMA fan. Welcome to the team Oriol!

Stockholm Fashion Week 2010

(From Stockholm Fashion Week that was here in August 2009.)

I have one update this week that's very good for a new designer like me.
Stockholm Fashion Week is coming up in February and the project I met with Joni Lindgren last week is on! They got it all cleared so now Shi-Óri will be seen on at least one runway, which is a dream come true. And the theme is enviromental friendly clothes and what's fun about that it's that it's for a good cause aswell as it's an adventure experiment and explore for the garments I'm making to that event.

I'm having a new Shi-Óri photoshoot coming up in 2-3 weeks! Feels very fun! The photographer Alan Jimenez that took my previous pictures you can see here on the blog is all set and the studio that my good friend Petter lets me use is also settled for me to enter any day I want!

Wrong blog with Internet Explorer!

Det blir nåt jättefel när man kollar på min blogg genom Internet Explorer men allt ser bra ut när man kollar med Firefox. Hittar tyvärr inte inställningar för att ordna detta så om ni kan så använd Firefox istället för Explorer. Tack! :)

Meeting Joni Lindgren

Yesterday my agent Christina and I had a meeting with Joni Lindgren that's arranging a fashion show during Stockholm Fashion Week 2010 (next week we'll know if it'll happen so keep your fingers crossed). The theme will be about enviromental clothes and I just love that they want to focus on such a good thing!
Just have to quote what she wrote on her blog after our meeting: "Shi-Óri. Those who wants to achieve their dreams fight for it."
